Disney’s Hollywood Studios Confirms Opening For Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow

Afternoon Thrill Seekers,

Disney announced via their blog that the official date for the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow will be December 6th, Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager for Disney Parks stated

Dress rehearsals and previews begin in late November before the grand opening on December 6

From what we understand here at Orlando Attraction Tickets the new addition will be a walk through attraction and will be positioned where the Narnia attraction was based.

Jennifer also added;

guests will journey deep into an eerie lost grotto, where a mysterious pirate skull puts them to the test to see if they have what it takes to set sail with the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow. Along the way, they must face all the perils of a pirate’s life as their favorite moments from the films come to life before their eyes.

I don’t know about you but I love the Pirates of the Caribbean films and can’t wait to visit.

Disney Attraction Tickets can be purchased before departure from the UK and represent much better value than on the gates.

Jamie

Our Tickets Require Signatures, Why And What About The Kids?

Morning Thrill Seekers,

I’ve been asked this question a few times this week so I thought it maybe useful to post about signing your Orlando Attraction Tickets.

On the back of some tickets, for example the 14 day Disney Ultimate Ticket and the FlexTicket Plus there is a space for the ticket holder to enter their signature, the Theme Parks require this in case circumstances arise where they need to identify you (lost tickets etc).

Where this can be confusing is in the case of child tickets, kids generally do not have their own signature however if you child is capable then they should sign it, not only does it help with identification but it also adds to the excitement. If your child isn’t quite ready to sign a ticket you can either sign it for them or leave it blank, it will not effect their entry in to the parks.

Theme Park Ride Of The Week – The Incredible Hulk Ride

Good afternoon Thrill Seekers,

From now on Thursdays will officially be called #themeparkthursday… ok well perhaps its not totally official and perhaps it may just be me but every Thursday I’m going to talk about my Theme Park Ride of the Week.

The very first Theme Park Ride of the Week is…..*drum roll*…. 2012 best Coaster as voted by Orlando Attraction Tickets customers…

The Incredible Hulk Ride at Universal’s Island’s of Adventure

The mean green speed machine, is one of Orlando’s most popular rides, its unique feature is the launch lift hill, “normal” coasters usea chain lift system, The Incredible Hulks launch lift system mean’s the rider is accelerated from 0 to 40 mph (64 km/h) in 2 seconds, before speeding through several inversions.

When the coaster first opened it boasted the worlds tallest cobra roll (110 feet (34 m)), The cobra roll is a roller coaster inversion which resembles a cobra’s head. Riders traverse forward through an upwards half-vertical loop, corkscrew perpendicular to the first direction, enter another corkscrew that merges into a downward half-vertical loop that exits in the parallel but opposite direction of the entrance. It takes riders upside-down twice.

Rider Spoiler

(by wikipedia)

The train enters the Gamma Tube, where the anxious voice of Bruce Banner issues from speakers in the walls: “Everything looks good…I think…I think this time it’s…going to work!” On cue, an automated and ironically calming female voice announces that there has been a malfunction. Klaxons begin to sound inside the tube as Dr. Banner screams in terror: “No. No! No!!!” The last “No!” is synchronized with the launch mechanism, which propels the train from 0 to 40 mph (64 km/h) in 2.0 seconds.

Upon exiting the Gamma Tube, the train immediately goes into a zero-g roll, down a 105-foot (32 m) drop, and into a cobra roll. Riders complete a vertical loop, then enter a tunnel full of mist. The train encircles the gamma tube and is sent into the back area via corkscrew. A smaller vertical loop wraps around the brake run, which is flanked by two over-banked turns. The coaster is slowed down by the brake run before being sent down another hill to a corkscrew and turn-around. Riders then travel sideways through an on-ride camera zone and then to the ride’s final brakes after a helix.

The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster also has a very loud roar type sound as the train rolls down the track. This is a hallmark of B&M roller coasters, and is due to the unique box-shaped track tubes.

This one really does get you smiling….

Jamie

Orlando Attraction Tickets Top Rides Of 2012

Hi Thrill Seekers,

Here at Orlando Attraction Tickets we’re all about the smiles. In 2012 we’ve helped over 20k people enjoy Florida to its utmost, on their return we asked these customers to name their favourite ride, here are the results…

  1. The Hulk Ride at Universal’s Island of Adventure.
  2. SheiKra at Busch Gardens, Tampa.
  3. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
  4. Manta at SeaWorld Orlando
  5. Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studio’s Orlando.
  6. Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Florida.
  7. Dragon’s Challenge at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
  8. Rock-N-Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Florida.
  9. Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal’s Island of Adventure.
  10. Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa.

As you can see Universal have done very well this year and the introduction of the Transformers Ride and an rumour extension to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter could see them dominate our top 10 for a few years to come.

Something to bear in mind is that the majority of people who answered our questionnaire were not children, I’m sure the chart would have looked very different if under 9’s did the voting with LEGOLAND Florida and Disney probably dominating.

What are your top 10 theme park rides in Florida?

Jamie

Things to do at Universal City Walk – FREE with Universal tickets

One of the things that I find most people overlook when they buy their Universal Orlando attraction tickets is that their ticket actually includes access to universal’s City Walk. Universal CityWalk is a 30 acre entertainment complex that offers spectacular night life weather you are looking for a relaxing dinner or to socialise over a few cocktails, or see one of the amazing open air concerts or even catch a movie! You can do all this and more at Universal CityWalk®

The first thing that hits you when you enter CityWalk is the amazing buzz that seems to radiate. Everyone is here for exactly the same reason; to have a good time! The streets are lined with snack joints, restaurants, bars and clubs which all seem to compete to catch your eye with amazing neon signs.

Most people don’t know that the clubs along City Walk will charge a cover fee of between $6-$8 USD to get in. However, with your Universal Bonus Tickets and FlexTickets you will be able to enter the clubs and bars for free. During your stay in Orlando you should, at least once, come down to CityWalk and experience the buzz for yourself!

Here is just a couple of my faverite bars, clubs and eats;

.
Places to Eat at CityWalk:

Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is a great family/friends dining experience right at the entrance of CityWalk. You cant fail to miss this place with its red neon sign! The restaurant is as you could probably guess, based on Forest Gump. The engaging staff will entertain you and make you feel at home with their Southern hospitality. While we were there our waiter kept us occupied with a Forest Gump quiz and gave out some small Gump prizes like badgers that say ‘Stupid is as stupid does’ The whole restaurants decked out with Gump related items like a plaster casts of Forrest’s running shoes or grab a memorable photo at the famed bus bench in front of the restaurant. My favorite was the signs pointing to the toilets which say…I gotta Pee!

The food is simple, mostly shrimp and burgers but none the less very tasty. If you order a cocktail you are allowed to keep the glass, they will box it up for you to make sure it doesn’t get damed – nice touch.

Big Kahuna Pizza

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat and you’re into your Pizza then you cant really go wrong with Big Kahuna Pizza.

With the usual suspects  to choose from, walk up counter service with outside tables for you to enjoy the live music while you munch on a slice of Hawaiian or Pepperoni, this places offers an ideal place to grab a quick bite to eat.

Prices are not exactly the cheapest, a cold drink and a slice will probably set you back $5-$6 but remember where you are (CityWalk) the location alone will add extra zest!

.

Bars / Clubs

Pat O’Brians

Party it up like it’s Mardi Gras at Pat O’Brien’s! Pat O’Brien’s Bar is an authentic reproduction of the New Orleans’ famous hot spot. Opened in February 1999, this reproduction of New Orleans’ favorite watering hole, Pat O’Brien’s is the original home of dueling pianos, the “flaming fountain” patio, and the world-famous “Hurricane®” specialty drink. I was lucky enough or should I say unlucky enough (still undecided) to sample a Hurricane while at Pat O’Brians…im still having trouble remembering the exact details of that night 🙂 but I’m assuming I had a good one!

Rising Star Kareoke

For everyone with dreams of taking the stage and belting out a song as lead singer of a band, get ready for your moment in the spotlight. CityWalk’s Rising Star is not your typical karaoke club. Here when you grab the mic you’re performing with a live band complete with real backup singers on stage. Choose from an impressive number of song titles and rock out like a superstar, or croon your favorite country ballad, as you perform in front of a live audience.

This club is pretty amazing – its a karaoke bar on a monster scale, live stage, backing singers and musicians will give you the feeling that you’re a real pop star – especially if you have had a few drinks 😉 this club is also pretty huge. Based on multi levels with everyone looking down onto the stage its such a fun place to hang out and get involved.

Bob Marley – A tribute to Freedom

“DON’T GAIN THE WORLD AND LOSE YOUR SOUL,’CUS WISDOM IS BETTER THAN SILVER AND GOLD” – Bob Marley

Share in a one-of-a-kind celebration of music and culture as Bob Marley–A Tribute to Freedom takes you on a musical journey through the life of the “King of Reggae.” Bob Marley’s songs of faith, hope, rebellion, and determination have brought inspiration and joy to audiences everywhere. Working closely with Rita Marley and the Bob Marley Foundation, they have created a replica of Bob’s home on 56 Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica. Inside, artifacts, photos, and video clips from his legendary career surround visitors in the open-air veranda and courtyard.

This is probably one of the most popular clubs on CityWalk and by popular I mean packed. Its a great place to dance and sink a few cold ones, its hot and sweaty and the atmosphere is amazing. Its one that you need to put on your list of ‘must do’s’
This is just a snippet of whats on offer on CityWalk, I haven’t even mentioned the live shows! tones of other bars and clubs and numerous places to eat. As a free add on to tickets you have already purchased this really is a hidden gem that is truly something that should be experienced.
