Finally Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is open to the public, one week after the original opening date, the worlds largest indoor theme park has welcomed its first official paying customers.
The original launch date was postponed due to the death of Saqr Bin Mohammed, the park stated at the time, “In respect of the passing of the late Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today’s soft opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has been postponed.”
Ferrari World is the world’s largest indoor theme park and boasts the world’s quickest coaster at 149mph.
The new Disney Cruise Liner – Disney Dream makes first public appearance! With all the grandeur of a Hollywood premiere, the Disney Dream made her first public appearance when the luxury liner emerged from a massive Meyer Werft shipyard building in Papenburg, Germany, during a gala “float out” ceremony.
A tradition in the cruise ship industry, the float out marks yet another milestone for the Disney Dream. Fittingly, the ceremony was shared with thousands of local residents and shipyard workers who saw the ship magically transformed from tons of raw steel into a luxury liner that gleams in the Disney Cruise Line signature colors of black, red and yellow. For Papenburg, a town steeped in ship building tradition, the event turned into a community celebration to welcome the Disney Dream as she dipped her toes into the water for the very first time.
Work continues inside the ship as the Disney Dream sets her course for a Jan. 26, 2011, inaugural sailing from Port Canaveral, Fla. Testing will take place throughout the ship to ensure smooth sailing in the new year. In fact, a little mouse told me that even in the 40-degree weather in Germany, the AquaDuck — the world’s first “water coaster” at sea — is being tested with brave souls taking the 765-foot, splash’tacular trip through the acrylic tube that winds throughout four decks.
Kumba the ride can be found at in Busch Gardens, Tampa, Florida.
Consistently voted one of the world’s top roller coasters by enthusiasts around the world, this legendary beast takes you from hair-raising heights to absolute weightlessness through seven inversions, all with the grace and speed of this magnificent predator.
It is said that if you can hear the roar of a lion in the distance, you have crossed into his territory. The natives call his roar the Kumba. And you’ll feel his breath on the back of your neck from the moment you step aboard the mighty coaster that earned his name.
Height to ride – 5″4
Ride Duration – Approx 2:37
Attraction ticket review – This ride is an average rollercoaster like one you would find at home, my son was a bit dissapointed as he couldn’t go on it as he is only 5″0 not sure why the height restriction is quite high
It’s not a dream – or a nightmare. It’s SheiKra: A fierce, floorless, blazing-fast thriller in the heart of Busch Gardens.
After a 200 foot climb, this cunning coaster takes you just over the edge of a true 90-degree drop. And stops. For 4 seconds, you find yourself looking down – straight down – at the ground below as you’re held suspended above it.
Then, you plunge straight toward the ground, racing at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour. An Immelmann loop and a second vertical dive into an underground tunnel end with a surprise twist for those who look on – because with SheiKra, even they cannot escape.
Height to ride – 5″4
Ride Duration – Approx 2:04
Attraction ticket review – This was AWESOME!!!! Definately one for the thrill seeker’s, every time I watch this one You tube I wish I was back there.
As we reported yesterday the Rip Ride Rockit is now back open at Universal Orlando, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to recap this great ride.
Riders of the Rip Ride Rockit have access to a touchpad mounted on the lap bar, which allows you to select your own music. Riders can choose their favorite genre – Classic Rock/Metal, Rap/Hip-Hop, Club/Electronica, Pop/Disco or Country – and then pick a song. Each seat is outfitted with individual stereo speakers so guests can rock out to 90 decibels of music – and yet never hear the songs playing for other riders. Your song pick will be the soundtrack to your ride and to a music video you can purchase that uses on- and off-board cameras to mix music, moves and special effects.
