Interview with Gavin Boswell CEO of usrentacar.co.uk

Name: Gavin Boswell

Who do you work for? The UK’s largest USA Car Hire specialist; usrentacar.co.uk

What was the highlight of 2012 for your company? We redesigned our website at the beginning of this year and the alterations have not only increased sales but customers have been praised us for its transparency.

What can we expect from your company in 2013? The future of car rental is at a very interesting point at the moment, the market has shrunk due to Hertz’s purchase of DTAG and the rise of car sharing looks to be here to stay. We have a few things up our sleeve including a new version of our iPhone app due for launch in the 2nd quarter of 2013.

Favourite Theme Park?: Tough one for me, its a toss up between Busch Gardens and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Busch Gardens has some of the most under-rated coasters in the U.S. and the new ride Cheetah Hunt is pretty impressive, even if it did break down while I was on it!!!

Islands of Adventure has some of the more iconic rides; like Spider-Man and of course the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Give me a day in either of these parks and I’ll be happy.

Favourite Theme Park ride and why?: I’m going to go with Universal’s Rip Ride Rockit… I love music and I love coasters, so a fusion of the both is right up my alley. Although Manta at SeaWorld and the Hulk ride at Islands also deserve a shout.

Favourite Water Park and why?: I’m very lucky to have been to all of the water parks in Orlando and I like them all for different reasons but I’m going to pick Wet N’ Wild, although it may need a lick of paint here and there I can’t think of another park that has so many multiple passenger rides.

Best Theme Park food?: Tough one, I generally skip lunch as I’m too busy enjoying myself  but I’ll pick the Hot Dog I had at Disney, it was massive and filled me up all day.

Best Theme Park tip?: Book your tickets before you leave the UK, you save a fortune as here in the UK you can pre-purchase tickets that aren’t available in the U.S.

Best souvenir you’ve ever got from a park?: 2 Spider-Man t-shirts I bought for my kids back in 2007, they not only got worn to death by my eldest 2 but got passed down and abused further by my youngest 2, oh and they looked awesome.

Longest you’ve queued for a ride?: Hmm this is where I won’t make any friends, I haven’t queued… not once… ever… I know you all hate me now but one of the perks of the job is being shown around the parks as a “VIP”, no queuing involved we just go straight to the front of the queue… Sorry.

If you could make your own ride, what would it be?: The most successful rides in my opinion are based on comic book characters; I’d like to see some kind of Avengers ride; not 3d, a proper coaster… perhaps incorporating elements of each character…

What’s it like working with orlandoattractiontickets.co.uk?: As I have an interest in Orlando Attraction Tickets its easy for me to say that both companies work seamlessly together.

***Thanks to Gavin for taking the time to answer our questions; yes we do all hate him for never having queued at a theme park!!! :-)***

Transformers: The Ride 3-D – Video

An Impressive Next Generation Thrill Ride now open at Universal Studios California!

Blurring the line between fiction and reality. Fusing HD 3D media and flight simulation technology, this epic ride creates an experience unlike anything else!

Based on the popular movie franchise (Transformers) and created by the team that developed Universal Orlando’s Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man comes the next generation in that motion-base, 3D ride technology. The mind-blowing new Transformers adventure puts you in the middle of the ultimate war zone.

Transformers: The Ride 3D which opened on the 24th May, transports the rider middle into the middle of an all out, no holds barred battle between the AutoBots (the good dudes) and the Decepticons (the bad dudes) You’ll Fight alongside Optimus Prime as you ride in EVAC, an Autobot who doubles as your vehicle. Together, you’re charged with taking the Allspark shard to safety during a Decepticon attack. However things don’t go according to plan and you end up in an awesome battle.

The ride combines impressive 3D imagery with full scale hi-tech sets to offer an amazing thrill ride. The attraction is based on Michael Bay’s Transformers films. The great thing about this ride is that you don’t need to be a fan of Transformers or even know what a transformer is to be able to enjoy it. While boarding the whole story will be explained to ensure you are up to speed.
