Hey Thrill Seekers,
Grab a handkerchief and dry those eyes, yup the rumours are true, Fast & Furious: Supercharged is officially closing. After 7 years, this infamous motion based dark ride is set to close in 2027 coinciding with the launch of Universal’s newest coaster Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift
Why is Fast & Furious: Supercharged Closing?
The ride itself has never been fully accepted by theme park goers and has received mostly negative reviews. One legendary but perhaps tongue in cheek remark came from Thierry Coup, Universal Creative Senior Vice President and CCO who stated at an IAAPA Expo 2021 Legends Panel that he wished he had stopped senior management from building the Fast & Furious attraction, calling it his “biggest mistake.”
However many think that Universal simply do not believe that having two Fast & Furious attractions makes business sense plus the attractions aren’t particularly close to each other (approx. a 5min walk) and Universal likes to create an immersive feeling that this definitely wouldn’t.
When will Fast & Furious attraction: Supercharged close?
Universal have confirmed it will close in 2027 but have not confirmed a date. We’ve guessed at a launch date for Fast & Furious attraction: Hollywood Drift here and we’d assume it will close before its launch.
What’s replacing Fast & Furious attraction: Supercharged
Nothing has been confirmed and I don’t believe it will be altered any time soon. It might make sense to use the existing technology and just update it to a new IP however the attractions footprint is quite large covering 2.82 acres and therefore represents an opportunity to create something iconic.
We’ll update you when we know more.
Will you miss this attraction?
What do you hope it’s replaced with?
Smiles included…
Jamie
