The LEGO Movie World

Hey Thrill Seekers,

The LEGO Movie World opened last week, lets take a look at this awesome new world which is the largest expansion in LEGOLAND Florida’s history.

It was definitely a grand opening with performances, entertainers, characters and loads of colourful confetti!

Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and LEGO®, the newest expansion features three new rides and numerous attractions, all inspired by the characters and themes of the worldwide blockbuster THE LEGO® MOVIE™ and the exciting big-screen animated adventure sequel THE LEGO® MOVIE™ 2: The Second Part.

“We couldn’t be more excited to officially open THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD,” said Rex Jackson, general manager of LEGOLAND Florida Resort. “THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD is a key piece to our expansion and growth as we further cement ourselves as a multi-day destination.”

Not only will guests feel like life-size LEGO minifigures in the heavily-immersive land, but they’ll also be able to enjoy some of the world’s most-advanced ride technology.

“THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD is a game changer for LEGOLAND Florida Resort,” said Keith Carr, project director of Merlin Magic Making. “The immersion and theming that we’ve incorporated into the area is unlike anything we’ve ever done. Our guests will have so much fun on all three rides, but the land’s marquee ride, THE LEGO MOVIE Masters of Flight encompasses the only 180-degree turn on a flying theater in the world.”

THE LEGO MOVIE Masters of Flight takes guests on a suspended ride aboard Emmet’s Triple Decker Couch surrounded by a full-dome virtual screen, giving the sensational feeling of flying through a world created completely from LEGO® bricks.

Unikitty’s Disco Drop takes guests through a rainbow-filled journey based on Unikitty and her many moods. Once on the ride, guests will swoop to the tiptop of Cloud Cuckoo Land, then drop, spin and bounce back down to earth in sync with Unikitty’s wide range of emotions, creating a thrilling and frenzied experience.

At Battle of Bricksburg, the only water ride at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, riders are challenged to stop DUPLO aliens from invading and stealing LEGO bricks by spraying water at targets from their boats. The riders aren’t the only ones who can enjoy playing in the water, outside of the ride will be water cannons for guests to spray and help the riders save the day.

“Our goal is to put a smile on every child who walks into LEGOLAND Florida Resort. By the looks of excitement on the faces of our guests, I know we accomplished that today,” said Jackson.

Who’s visiting LEGOLAND soon?! This new world looks soo immersive and the perfect hang out place for kids!

LEGOLAND Florida announces THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD!

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Now I don’t think that LEGOLAND Florida gets enough props, it’s an awesome park to visit with over 50 rides, thousands of amazing LEGO® models, shows and activities designed especially for families with children aged 2-12 years, there is enough entertainment to last a lifetime.

Recently, LEGOLAND have announced their biggest ever theme park investment to date. THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD! will launch in the spring of 2019. Due to the popularity of the blockbuster film THE LEGO® MOVIE™ (with sequel to come) and the popularity of the films characters within the park they have decided to work closely with Warner Bros. Entertainment and LEGO System A/S to create THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD which will out guests right in the middle of ‘Bricksburg’ which is the city where Emmet lives in the film.

lml_legoMovieLogo_8k_white.jpg

LEGOLAND state that this new world will ‘represent the theme park’s continuing commitment to providing state-of-the-art experiences specifically designed to create awesome memories for kids ages 2 – 12.’

“The sights and sounds will be fully immersive bringing THE LEGO MOVIE franchise to life in a way that only a LEGOLAND Park could,”

said Rex Jackson, general manager of LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

“We know kids come from all over the world to meet the stars of THE LEGO MOVIE and we can’t wait to see their faces light up as they interact within the imaginative world of Bricksburg.”

THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD is going to feature not one, not two but THREE new rides. The interactive boat ride, The Quest for Chi, is going to be completely transformed and will offer guests an exciting new experience when it reopens as a key attraction in THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD. The current attraction is due to stop operations on May 29th. There will also be character meet and greets and a ‘giant themed playscape’

The Great LEGO Race is opening March 23rd

Hey Thrill Seekers,

The highly anticipated new VR attraction at LEGOLAND Florida now has an opening date! On the 23rd March 2018 you will be able to experience the thrills of a coaster with virtual reality technology as you race against all your favourite minifigures.

The Great LEGO Race is the first VR coaster aimed solely at kids and is also the first time LEGO brand and minifugures have been integrated with VR technology (in a theme park attraction)

The ‘wild and wacky’ race pits guests against a pirate, wizard, surfer and pharaoh as they steer LEGO-built vehicles like a rocket-powered windsurfing rig, a stylish scooter fuelled by espresso and an ornately canopied bed (called a “litter”) carried by mummy servants.

Wearing optional VR headsets, riders will experience the action from every direction while riding the roller coaster — up, down, forward, backward and all points in between — in a dazzling environment where everything is made of LEGO bricks.

And there’s more….

After crossing the finish line on The Great LEGO Race, guests can then switch gears and enjoy an all-new treat at Funnel Cake Factory, which will open this spring just steps away from the roller coaster in the LEGO Technic area. The highly themed pit stop will offer freshly made-to-order funnel cakes with toppings including fresh fruit, powdered sugar and soft-serve ice cream. YUMMMMM

Also check out all the other awesomeness coming to LEGOLAND in 2018.

New Attractions to Look Forward to in 2018

Hey Thrill Seekers,

2017 has nearly come to an end, we’ve had loads of cool new attractions / parks arrive in Orlando this year such as Volcano Bay and Pandora – The World of Avatar and lucky for us 2018 is not going to disappoint either with loads of new rides set to open in the coming year.

I’m going to start with Hollywood Studios as we are eagerly awaiting the opening of Toy Story Land here at OAT towers. Two new rides and a food spot have been officially named for Toy Story Land which is opening in the summer of next year; Slinky Dog Dash – a family coaster where you will find  yourself zipping, dodging and dashing around a track that Andy has created to stretch Slinky to his limits. Alien Swirling Saucers where aliens will be flying around in their saucers trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with ‘The Claw’ and Woodys Lunch Box which will be a quick service window to grab some of Andy’s fave food.

Next up is Universal Studios where Fast & Furious – Supercharged is set to open in Spring. Now this is one i’m personally super excited about as I LOVE  the Fast & Furious films. Guests will be immersed in their own Fast and Furious story, escaping the enemy with familiar faces such as Dom, Letty and Hobbs. The new ride will also feature a Virtual Line just like in Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

SeaWorld is also opening a brand new ride in the summer called Infinity Falls. Infinity Falls is a river rapids ride with a twist. It will be a 4+ minute ride featuring a 40ft plunge down the tallest drop of its kind. Riders will get to experience the excitement and thrills of category 4 white water rapids and use a ‘unique elevator lift’ which will create the worlds tallest drop on a river raft ride.

Aquatica is also debuting a brand new ride; Ray Rush. This ride is set to open in Spring and will be the only water ride in Florida to offer a water jet propel system which will launch riders (4 at a time) at 33 feet per second. It will have a height requirement of 42”.

LEGOLAND are also in the mix of opening new rides in 2018 with The Great LEGO Race: Opening in Spring – a new virtual-reality roller coaster adventure. This new coaster will feature virtual reality technology, a cast of wacky LEGO minifigures and is replacing the current Project X coaster.

Take a look at myself and Gavins recent OAT Live where we discussed everything we are looking forward to in 2018 (as well as my rubbish attempt at playing a Kazuu) and also another cool video below to round up all the new things to look forward to next year;

Personally, the one i’m most looking forward to is Fast & Furious – Supercharged. Whats yours?

The Great LEGO Race opening Spring 2018

Hey Thrill Seekers!

There are many things to look forward to in the coming year at the parks in Orlando, one park in particular which is sometimes overlooked has a preeeeeetty cool new coaster coming in Spring 2018.

At LEGOLAND Florida, under the supervision of their parent company – Merlin Magic Making – Project X roller coaster is being transformed in to ‘The Great LEGO Race’ which is going to be a supercharged virtual reality adventure that puts you in the drivers seat. “Prepare to take on the wildest LEGO race ever imagined when cutting-edge VR technology combines with roller coaster thrills in an exhilarating new attraction!”

The experience is the first VR roller coaster designed for kids and will feature a line up from the popular LEGO minifigure mystery assortments and will pit riders in a ‘rollicking race’ against wild, brick built contraptions driven by Trendsetter, Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, Wizard and Pirate Captain. Guests will steer LEGO-built vehicles like a rocket-powered windsurfing rig, a stylish scooter fuelled by espresso and an ornately canopied bed (called a “litter”) carried by mummy servants.

“Are you brave enough to face, race and beat the best of the best in all of LEGO world?”

Guests will wear (optional) VR headsets to be able to fully immerse themselves in a world built entirely from LEGO bricks that has been inspired by the way kids play with LEGO toys at home.

The adventure begins as guests approach the ride’s bold new entry portal as the sounds of roaring engines fill the air. Nearby, the coaster’s queue will resemble a pre-race space where pit crews for each of the five LEGO racers are preparing for the competition, plus interactive, hands-on elements to entertain waiting riders.

Check out the first look at The Great LEGO Race:

Guests must be at least 42 inches tall (1.2m) to ride, or be accompanied by a responsible adult at least 48 inches tall. The VR headsets are designed to fit both adults and children, and can be adjusted for comfort. The VR experience is intended for children 6 and up, and guests can choose to ride without wearing the headset.

What do you think of a VR coaster combined with LEGO characters? LEGOLAND are the third park to feature a VR coaster (after Fun Spot and SeaWorld) so could it be a way forward for coasters?

LEGOLAND Florida Run Their Imagination Zone Entirely On Renewable Energy

Hey Thrill Seekers,

LEGOLAND® Florida, near Orlando, is taking advantage of the Park’s year-round sunshine by running its popular Imagination Zone entirely on renewable energy.

To mark the initiative, a giant LEGO globe was unveiled, modelled from over a quarter of a million colourful bricks. The interactive globe rotates above mini communities illustrating the effects of solar power.
TECOGLOBEAdrian Jones, LEGOLAND Florida¹s General Manager, commented ;

We are thrilled about this initiative which we are running in partnership with Tampa Electric and have further exciting plans on renewable energy in the pipeline.

We also got our hands on this great time lapse video showing how LEGOLAND Florida went about making the globe.

You can purchase a 1 day LEGOLAND Florida ticket for as little as £36.00 at Orlando Attraction Tickets.
