Hey Thrill Seekers

Today Universal Orlando Resort has announced a new Fast & Furious–themed outdoor roller coaster called Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, will be coming to Universal Studios. Set to open in 2027 the announcement puts pay to the multiple rumours that had been flying around about what would replace the iconic Rip Ride Rockit. Our own Jamie got it spot on when he predicted Hollywood Drift would be the answer.

What do we know about Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift?

Well in their statement Universal confirmed it will be high speed, the California version hits speeds of up to 72mph. It will feature ride carts that will offer 360-degree spinning/drifting to create  intense manoeuvres. Also confirmed is the 170-foot vertical spike that sends riders nearly 17 stories into the air offering views of Universal City Walk and making it Universal’s tallest coaster.

When will we be able to ride Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift?

At the moment the official date is very broad, with a confirmed year of 2027 but nothing else confirmed. Based on previous coasters opened in Orlando we’re likely looking at late May or early June 2027.

Ride – Jurassic World VelociCoaster Opened – 10th June 2021
Ride – Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Opened – 13th June 2019
Ride – The Incredible Hulk Coaster Opened – 28th May 1999

Universal will slowly drip feed more information over the coming months, so make sure you keep coming back for updates.

Smiles included…

Jamie
