Hey Thrill Seekers,
Most people think that Universal Orlando is mainly aimed at teenagers and above. When you think about the Hulk Coaster and Rip Ride Rockit its not hard to think why but its not strictly the case.
Recently I had the pleasure of visiting both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure with my 10 year old son Connor, we had an absolute blast afterwards I got him to pick out his top 5 attractions for children of his age and younger. It must be said that we did visit before The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley opened up, if it had of been open then perhaps some of the attractions below would have been replaced.
Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
Connor absolutely loved this ride, me not so much…. we got drenched! 🙂 I mean totally soaked. Connor thought it was hilarious!
This water ride is great for all the family and has a minimum height requirement of only 42″. It offers real excitement and I dare anyone not to smile.
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman
Connor made us ride this four times… with its high-definition animation, high-tech 3-D glasses, amazing audio, lighting and brilliant story, what’s not to like!?
With a minimum height requirement of 40″ we saw children as young as 5 riding all of them over excited by the time the ride had ended not even the simulated 400-foot freefall had them worried… me on the other hand!
Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
This ride has cheeky little surprise at the end which Connor loved. At the start of it he thought it was a little babyish by the time the ride had finished and we were soaked he was screaming to ride it again!

Again the minimum height to ride this is 44″, which means its great for all the family. A Dudley Do Right’s fact about this ride is that its the first flume ride to send riders plummeting below the water level.
Transformer the Ride 3D
This was a bit of a no brainer for Connor, even before he got on the ride he had already decided he was going to love it. Luckily for me we weren’t disappointed.
This 3-D ride has a minimum height requirement of 40″ so is great for all the family. Even if you’re not a Transformers fan the ride immerses you within the story.
Men in Black Alien Attack
Zap aliens! What more could a 10 year old want… plus he beat me! This ride along shoot ’em up attraction is great fun. Become part of the Men in Black team as you travel through the streets shooting aliens and collecting points (for hits). When you’ve completed the ride you’re given your score and of course the boasting rights!
A really good ride and if you can get all the family on its even better, minimum height is 42″.
To be fair Connor could have rattled off more than just 5 great rides, I didn’t even get to mention The Despicable Me! Ride or Shrek 4D!!!
So next time someone tell your Universal is only for teenagers you can tell them they couldn’t be more wrong 🙂
Smiles included…
Jamie
