What Is The Magic of Disney Animation?
Opening in summer 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation will transform the former Star Wars: Launch Bay building into an immersive, interactive animation studio experience.
Inspired by the real Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, guests will step inside a reimagined working studio where the characters have quite literally come to life.
Expect a blend of:

- Character encounters

Animation Academy Returns

This was previously a fan favourite at Hollywood Studios, and its return will be welcome news for long-time visitors.
“Drawn to Wonderland” Play Area
Families with younger children will love a new indoor play space inspired by Alice in Wonderland concept art.
With oversized flowers, whimsical musical elements and colourful interactive features, this area will offer a welcome air-conditioned break — especially during Florida’s warmer months.
Character Encounters & Photo Spots
Throughout the experience, guests will discover themed spaces inspired by popular Disney films. While full character details haven’t been confirmed, expect appearances from a mix of classic and modern favourites.
These immersive settings will make this more than just a walkthrough exhibit — it’s designed to feel alive and ever-changing.
What’s Happening to Animation Courtyard?
To make way for the new experience:
- Animation Courtyard will close from 25 September 2025
- Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will also close as part of the transformation
However, some nearby offerings — including The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Walt Disney Presents — are expected to remain open.
The wider courtyard area will also be reimagined into a space inspired by the Walt Disney Studios lot in California, offering shaded areas and relaxed spaces to unwind.

The Magic of Disney Animation is scheduled to open in summer 2026.
