Fast & Furious Supercharged is set to open this Spring at Universal Studios and although we don’t have a firm opening date confirmed today’s images seem to imply that our wait is almost over…
Here’s what Universal had to say;
From the moment you enter the attraction, you’ll become immersed in the storyline. You’ll encounter Dom’s iconic car parked out front of the new home base of operations for the Fast & Furious family.
Once inside, you’ll get to explore familiar scenes from the films like Tej’s high-tech War Room, where you learn more about your mission.
And of course, garages filled with supped up cars designed by Dennis McCarthy, the man behind the vehicles created for the films. Several of the cars you’ll see are from the Fast & Furious movies. You’ll even come across an all-new vehicledesigned exclusive for the attraction – Letty’s Turbo Truck!
If you’re a car fanatic, keep your eye out for modifications that only a true fan would recognize. I’m not what you would call “car savvy”, but it was pretty cool to walk through and see it all.
Keep checking our blog and facebook page for more information about the release date of this highly anticipated attraction.
I am SUPER buzzing about Fast & Furious – Supercharged which is coming to Universal Studios Florida next spring and Universal have just revealed some new details. Woohooo!
When I was in Orlando back in September I could see this new attraction starting to take shape.. at least I know where to head first now when it’s open! The ride is going to be very immersive and will throw guests straight in to the story where you will become part of the Fast family. If you’re as much of a fan of the Fast and Furious films like myself or if you’ve seen the films you will know how action packed and adrenaline filled they are which is being bought to life in this spectacular ride. Universal have said that ‘there are four specific details exclusive to Universal Orlando’s Fast & Furious – Supercharged that make it the ultimate Fast & Furious experience:’ These are:
Supercharged Cars (duhhhhhh)
Check out this Video:
Universal have also revealed a ‘front row look inside the high-energy adventure’
The Family’s All Here
‘You’ll encounter Dom (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and more of your favoirite Fast & Furious characters during your action-packed experience. But it’s not all good guys that you’ll come face-to-face with either. Luke Evans (Owen Shaw) and his criminal cartel are back with a vengeance.
Ludacris (Tej Parker) and Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto) will join the all-star cast of this attraction.’
Cars from the Fast & Furious Film Franchise
Universal have stated that they worked very closely with Dennis McCarthy who is the man behind the cars in the films to create 15 authentic cars which are one of a kind for the attraction – pretty cool ay!!
An Original Fast & Furious Story
Before you even step inside the attraction, you’re immersed in the story. You’ll first encounter Dom’s iconic car parked outside.
The Fast & Furious – Supercharged building has become the all-new home base of operations. You’ll get to explore familiar scenes inspired by the films, including Tej’s high-tech War Room and the Family Room—complete with photos of the Fast family.
Dom invites you to attend a race after-party that you won’t want to miss. The best part is Tej hooks you up with customized party busses to get you there.
As you make your way to the party, Dom calls with an urgent message: Criminal mastermind Owen Shaw has tracked you down. Now, a high-speed chase is on as the Fast& Furious crew strives to keep you safe from the clutches of Shaw. But will you make it?
Fast & Furious – Supercharged is the second attraction (after Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon) to use a Virtual Line system. Again, like Jimmy Fallon there will be tonnes to do while you ‘queue’ such as memorabilia, songs from the soundtracks, photo opportunities and more. Also, when you exit the ride you’ll be able to take as many photos as you like of cars from this years The Fate of the Furious. No attraction is complete without a gift shop and of course there will be plenty of opportunity to grab as much merchandise as you want from the Fast & Furious gift shop.
I don’t think many would argue that Universal is on a hot streak at the moment, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been a smash hit, Transformers has proved very popular and the introduction of the Minions has helped Universal be seen as more than just a teenage and above park.
You’d forgive them if they wanted a bit of time off from building and creating but no, Universal are sprinting full speed ahead with new projects. Firstly I’ll run through some of the confirmed projects;
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
Set to officially open in 2016, Skull Island: Reign of Kong will be found at Islands of Adventure near the Jurassic Land.
From the art we’ve seen and some sneaky pictures of the build area, Skull Island looks like its going to be one of the more iconic attractions at Islands pf Adventure, with new ride vehicles, amazing theming and an interactive queue Kong is definitely set to be King.
One of Universal’s more ambitious projects Volcano Bay will become Florida’s newest and most high tech Water Parks. Set to open in 2017 little is known about the theming although this artistic impression seems to suggest an Easter Islands kind of vibe.
Return of the Hulk
The panic that spread around our facebook page when we mentioned that The Incredible Hulk ride would be shutting down for refurbishment was quick and staggering. Easily the most iconic ride Universal have, guests were fearing the worst.
However they shouldn’t worry The Hulk Coaster will be back in 2016, with new queue theming, new technology and new ride vehicles.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged
Set to join Universal’s vast array of movie based attractions, the hugely popular Fast & Furious franchise will make its Florida debut in 2017.
The ride is set to replace Disaster and Beatle Juice, so we’re expecting a large attraction full of thrills and spills.
Now on to the rumours… remember these are rumours they have not been confirmed by Universal and we have no inside knowledge, its just rumours.
Jimmy Fallon Experience
Rumours about this have been around for awhile, the attraction is said to be in the same mould as Disney’s Soarin’ and see’s guests taken on a trip with Fallon being the witty guide…
Fallon does have a solid link to Universal and our sources believe this will definitely happen.
The deal Universal inked with Nintendo is public knowledge and its pretty much known that Universal will be using Nintendo’s huge IP to build something, what that will be is anyone’s guess. We’re thinking a Mario Kart track among other things – What Will Universal Do With Nintendo
Something Harry Potter Related
With Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley proving to be such a huge success I think its only a matter of time until we see something else Potter related added.
When we wrote about it back in January we were keen to see Ministry of Magic, Malfoy Manor, Triwizard Tournament or a Potter themed hotel. I think the Ministry of Magic is probably the most viable, it could become an attachment on to Diagon Alley/London quite easily and the majority of the area has already been themed via the movies.
As before the last 3 are just rumours but would you like to see any of these? or perhaps something else?
It’s already hugely popular in California and now it’s set to be hugely popular in Orlando. Today Universal confirmed that one of the most successful film franchises of all time, The Fast and the Furious will be debuting in Florida in 2017.
Here’s what Universal said;
Buckle your seatbelts, because in 2017, Fast & Furious: Supercharged is coming to Universal Studios Florida. You’ll feel like part of the “Fast family” as you embark on a thrilling new Fast & Furious adventure that will put you right in the middle of the action.
The ride will fuse everything we all loved about the films but will showcase an original storyline and incredible ride technology. You’ll get to check out some of the high-speed, supercharged cars you’ve seen on the big screen. You’ll be immersed in the underground racing world made famous in the films and explore the headquarters of Toretto and his team. Then, you’ll board specially-designed vehicles for an adrenaline-pumping ride with your favorite stars from the films.
Universal also revealed that to make way for Fast & Furious: Supercharged, Disaster: A Major Motion Picture Starring You! will close permanently on September 8, 2015, with Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue closing later this year.
One of the major advantages of our new brand Theme Park Tickets Direct is being able to write about other parks around the World. For todays post we don’t actually have to travel that far, its a simple trip to the west coast of America to visit Universal Studios Hollywood where hot on the official release of their Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction they confirmed the addition of a new attraction.
Fast & Furious Supercharged is being described as a 3D-HD thrill ride, based around the hugely popular movie franchise The Fast and the Furious, visitors will go undercover in to the underground world of street racing where their identity will be revealed which leads to a daring escape.
The attraction itself will be hydraulic motion-based and will include special effects, state-of-the-art 3D audio system, and 3D imagery projected onto a 400 foot long 360-degree screen which will encircle Studio Tour guests in a newly-constructed 50,000-square-foot structure on the backlot. The screen will feature 18 4K projectors.
Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative said;
We’ve embarked on a new medium of immersive entertainment that brings to life the characters, hyper-realistic action adventure and custom-made effects to transport guests into the exciting world of Fast & Furious,
Our collaboration with Universal Pictures to bring this franchise to life through epic storytelling and technological breakthroughs continues to be a hallmark of Universal Studios Hollywood.
The new attraction isn’t a stand alone ride but rather an addition to the backlot tram tour. The main draw of this ride apart from the link to the movie franchise is the final sequences which are said to involve a street race where guests will feel like they are hitting speeds of 120mph!
Here at Theme Park Tickets Direct we’re currently in talks to add Universal Studios Hollywood to our portfolio of tickets. Once we’ve completed these negotiations we’ll let you know 🙂
