Guess How Many Calories You Burn In A Day At SeaWorld Orlando?

Hey thrill seekers,

There are many important questions in life, such as; how did the pyramids actually get there? Did man really descend from apes? Why are there so many yellow ones in a packet of M&Ms? And of course, most importantly…Just how many calories am I burning when I visit a theme park?

SeaWorld-logo-smallRecently I blogged about ‘How Many Calories I Burned at Busch Gardens‘ just because that’s the sort of data we like to collect here at Orlando Attraction Tickets – I know, we are theme park nerds! So when Visiting SeaWorld Orlando recently I decided to collect the same data.

I used a Nike Fuel Band to clock my daily calories and steps. Read on to find out just how many I burnt and how I did it, you’ll be surprised! Here’s how my day panned out;

1) Journey to Atlantis – Water/Thrill ride

 journey-to-atlantis

What better way too start the day than with a water ride! Water ride enthusiasts are in for a thrill as this mythical paradise reveals its darker side. This exciting flume ride/roller coaster hybrid treats you to more than its share of surprises as you explore dark, watery passageways through the sunken city before being flung from its gates down a thrilling plunge into the waters below.

2) Kraken – Rollercoaster

 kraken

SeaWorld mighty Kraken is a monster coaster like no other. Consistently ranked one of the world’s top coasters by ride enthusiasts, this blazing fast floorless steel coaster rises high above the horizon. Kraken; The mythological beast has been unleashed to lift you higher, drop you longer, and spiral you faster than any other coaster in Orlando.

3) Manta – Rollercoaster

manta

Manta lets you find out what it’s like to spin, glide, skim and fly like a giant ray when you experience the only flying roller coaster of its kind in the world. A seamless blend of up-close animal encounters with a head-first, face-down thrill ride! Riders are taunted by a head-first, face-down inverted nosedive…and that’s just the beginning. This powerful ray leads bold adventurers on a journey to experience the full force and power of riding the high seas, all on one of the smoothest tracks in the world.

4) One Ocean – Shamu Show.

 one-ocean-shamu

Amazing Killer Whale Splash Show! Dive into the exhilaration of the sea in our all-new Shamu show, One Ocean. The energy and spirit of the ocean envelops you in a multi-sensory celebration of life underneath the sea that entertains as it educates and inspires. Majestic killer whales join you on a journey into a world that drenches your senses in the vivid colours, vitality and global rhythms of the ocean. Dancing fountains set the stage as you connect with thrilling sea creatures and realize we are all part of one world, one ocean.

Break for lunch

I took a quick pit stop at Mango Joe’s – If you like wraps and fajitas then you cant go wrong with this place. But they are loads of great places to grab a bit to eat so whether you like pizza, burgers etc you are sure to find something tasty to tuck into. One tip would be to either have a late lunch or an early lunch. Between 12:00 and 13:00 hours are the busiest periods so queues are very likely.

5) Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island – Sea Lions, Walrus and Otter Show

 clyde-seamore-take-pirate-island

Wow! What a funny show! Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island, and instead take the stage using the one language we all share—fun! This sensational tale of lost loot, pirate plunder and misadventure is full of hilarious hijinks. Come aboard for some slap-flap comedy and pure family fun. Look out for the mime at the beginning of the show who keeps everyone entertained while you take your seat.

6) Turtle Trek  – 3-D Turtle exhibit

 turtle-trek

The first 3-D movie presented in a domed theatre! No animal’s life journey is more incredible than that of the sea turtle. From hatching on a beach and making the mad dash to open waters to the dangers and hazards they face as they mature and return to the very same beach to lay their own eggs, their tales of life underwater have in the past been impossible to show. And no theme park in the world is better equipped than SeaWorld to share that journey with millions of people. Check out this post for a complete Turtle Trek photo walk through

7) Dolphin Show – Blue Horizons

An amazing show with spectacular Dolphins. Join a young girl named Marina as she discovers the secrets of the sea and sky in a mesmerizing blue world of adventure and wonder. 8) Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin – Exhibit

So after a full day at SeaWorld how many calories did I actually burn? Well I actually burnt 786 calories and took just under 10,000 steps. Not as many calories or steps as I did at Busch Gardens but you have to admit it’s still pretty impressive, especially, when all I was doing was having fun!

 *Remember that we all burn calories in different ways. My data is based on my own personal experience and body type.

Here is the information you’ll need if you plan on visiting SeaWorld Orlando;

SeaWorld Orlando is included within the following tickets

If there is a better way to burn calories, I’d be interested to hear from you.

Turtle Trek at SeaWorld – A Photo Walk Through

Back on the 27th April we let you all know that SeaWorld launched ‘Turtle Trek’   The worlds first 3D movie presented in a domed theatre. Last month, courtesy of our good friends at SeaWorld Parks and Entertainments, I was lucky enough to go and experience this amazing attraction first hand. During the experience I managed to take some photos to show a step by step walk through;

Welcome to Turtle Trek - The worlds first 3D movie presented in a domed theatre

Upon entering Turtle Trek there is a beautiful aquarium which is home to some amazing tropical fish and of course lots of turtles! many of the turtle's here have been rescued by SeaWorld.

Before you enter the 3D Theatre there is a short presentation on the turtles and their habitat.

As you move through the attraction towards the 3D theatre you collect your 3D gllasses

Once inside the 3D theatre we are given a short explanation of the technology being used. The movie is controlled by an operator as seen here in the middle of the picture.

Once the movie begins you are told the story of a turtle's cycle of life. The images are projected in 3D around the whole theatre. This image shows a manatee!

The images are projected in such a way that you feel as if you are literally in the middle of the movie. You can almost reach out and grab the images.

You can turn around and look in every direction as the movie plays out the story of a turtle life all around you. Its not just the visuals that are incredible, the sound and the actual story all make this an amazing experience.

I have to admit that the pictures I took within the theatre do not exactly do Turtle Trek the full justice it deserves. The pictures I managed to take were taken with an iPhone so not exactly the best but hopefully enough to give you an idea of what you can expect!

As an experience this has got to be one of the most unique. Its like standing in the middle of a 3D movie (essentially you are) You can turn and look in any direction and see things happening all around you, that’s the beauty of the dome theatre. The imagery is awesome and so are the sound effects. It really does give you a glimpse though the eyes of a turtle as its battles through life. The whole thing lasts around 15-20 minutes.  Queuing time is limited if any as this is a group attraction.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting SeaWolrd.

I would love to hear from anyone else that has experienced Turtle Trek – why not drop us a comment.

Turtle Trek is part of the SeaWorld. You can experience this for your self with the SeaWorld 2 Park ticket or the SeaWorld 3 Park ticket available from OrlandoAttractionTickets.co.uk

SeaWorld’s TurtleTrek dome nears completion – take a sneaky peek inside!

The colourfully decorated construction walls are still up hiding SeaWorld’s newest attraction ‘Turtle Trek’ There are murals featuring tropical fish and turtle graphics which lend promise a new attraction in a corner of SeaWorld that is often overlooked.

TurtleTrek is a “world’s first” a new exhibit, with a signature 3-D movie presented in a domed theatre. In a constant effort to offer visitors the best experience possible  SeaWorld believes that the new TurtleTrek 3-D experience will make quite a splash.

The project has advanced in a big way this week with the completion of the dome screens.  Seen below is the last piece being installed.  Remember, TurtleTrek, opening this spring, is going to be the world’s first 3D, 360 domed theatre experience.  So it’s kind of a big deal when the screens are all in so we can start loading in the movie and begin the testing phase.

TurtleTrek is a one-of-its-kind attraction that can only come from SeaWorld, bringing guests close to sea turtles and manatees then immersing them in a sea turtle’s epic journey with the world’s first 3-D, 360-degree movie in a domed theatre. SeaWorld guests experience a turtle’s eye view of the ocean’s wonders and are inspired to be everyday heroes who can make a difference in nature.

Designers married a state-of-the art animated film and powerful stereoscopic 3D projection system with a fully domed theater, allowing for a seamless 3-D virtual environment, all around the guests, even over their heads!

The dome itself is 32-feet tall and64 feetin diameter, making the movie visuals massive in this space as you stand watching the turtle and other sea creatures come alive on the screens.

It took more than five weeks for the panels to be installed because each panel was measured and cut after the previous panel was installed.  This effectively means that every panel is precise for each individual location on the dome.

As mentioned above this exciting new edition to SeaWorld is planned to open in the spring. We’ll keep you posted with updates as they are released…and of course, that all important opening day!

Let me know what you think so far, will you make time to check it out this summer?

As always cheap SeaWorld tickets are available via Orlando Attraction Tickets. Right now as park of our 2012 price reductions you can upgrade from a 2 Park SeaWorld ticket to a 3 Park SeaWorld ticket for just £3!
