You’d be forgiven, with all the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley hype if you thought Florida was over run by Wizards, magic and wands… For a time the only thing I was writing about was Mr Potter and his amazing two land attraction at Universal Orlando but now we have an official opening date (8th July) and visitors are actually already experiencing the Hogwarts Express it seems like a good time to remind you all about two projects that we think you might just like.
Falcon’s Fury
Falcon’s Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa was scheduled to open before the Wizarding World of Harry Potter but reported problems getting equipment and parts has seen its launch rescheduled for the end of summer 2014.
For anyone unfamiliar, Falcon’s Fury is a 335 feet tall drop ride! However unlike other drop rides instead of riding in a sitting position riders are positioned at a 90 degree angle… yep facing the floor!
If that wasn’t scary enough, Falcon’s Fury adds another little twist by using a variable hold time system at the top of the ride so you never know how long you’ll be hanging before you drop! Manufactures state that during the ride you’ll feel five to six second of freefall time!
I can’t wait to ride this one… or should it be survive this one?
Skyscraper
Scheduled to open in 2016, the Skyscraper is a coaster you won’t be able to miss… standing at a record breaking 570 foot this amazing ride will offer;
- Over 50 stories tall
- Price for unlimited rides is expected to be under $20
- There will be full inversions on the coaster
- Ride time will be around three minutes
- Height requirement is expected to be 48 inches
- The track will be 5,200 feet long
- It will reach speeds up to 65 MPH
