Could We See A Permanent Walking Dead Attraction At Universal?

Hey Thrill Seekers,

This is a bit of a stretch but bear with me because its definitely worth considering… Could Universal have a permanent Walking Dead attraction?

Yesterday it was announced that Universal Pictures have signed a first look deal with Skybound Entertainment. Now don’t beat yourself up for not knowing who Skybound are, I didn’t know either until the name Robert Kirkman was banded around.

Robert Kirkman

Robert Kirkman, is the creator of the comic book which the very popular The Walking Dead TV program is based on.  In 2010 he partnered with David Alpert who is executive producer on The Walking Dead, to create Skybound with the intention of nurturing new talent.

The two year contract they signed gives Universal first refusal on new projects created by Skybound.

Peter Cramer and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, Universal’s co-presidents of production said;

Robert and David have proven themselves to be incredible storytellers in a wide range of mediums, and we are thrilled to be Skybound’s partner in the feature realm, We feel confident that their wealth of ideas and expertise will lead to exciting, provocative films for our slate.

From what we understand the contract is strictly for movies in the same way that AMC’s deal is for TV. So could this contract lead to a The Walking Dead movie and if it did could this in turn lead to Universal Orlando Resort perhaps using the IP to create a permanent The Walking Dead attraction?

Currently Universal have a working relationship with the Walking Dead IP as its featured at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights for the past 2 years and will surely be included this year as well.

As above this is purely an opinion piece but if theres a chance to get another extremely popular IP in the parks then I’m all for it. 🙂

Smiles included…

Jamie
