Hey Thrill Seekers,
As we head towards the holiday seasons its not just us humans who get a little break. Traditionally towards the end of the year major theme parks tend to begin a phase of refurbishments and temporary closures to improve, repair or sometimes remove attractions.
Recently The Incredible Hulk ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure closed for refurbishment and Disney’s own Blizzard Beach shut for annual maintenance, yesterday Disney confirmed that the popular ride Soarin’ at Epcot would also face temporary closure for refurbishment.
We believe the refurbishment is to add a new video to the attraction which Disney mentioned back in August at its D23 exhibition. Here’s what Disney said;
Beginning next year, guests at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort will undertake a whole new Soarin’ journey when Soarin’ Around the World opens at both locations. This new experience continues the recent updates to the popular attraction, including all-new digital screens and projection systems at both locations.
The ride is officially set to close on the 4th January 2016 and will re-open in the summer and guests can expect to be taken on a journey to far-flung lands, over some of the world’s most unique natural landscapes and man-made wonders. It will use the same technology that will make the Shanghai attraction, Soaring Over the Horizon, so spectacular.
Here’s a video Disney made of how the new video was created;
Smiles included…
Jamie
