Hey Thrill Seekers,

As promised Universal have made some announcements regarding the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride which will be the jewel in the crown of the new Diagon Alley expansion to the immensely popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter. One announcement they still haven’t made though is the confirmed launch date.

Universal released a video in conjunction with the announcement which you can view at the bottom of this post.

Here are the highlights;

When we first saw the planned designed and the leaked video we immediately thought that the ride was going to be an indoor coaster, we were thinking big thrills but Thierry Coup, senior vice president of Universal Creative Studios confirmed that they wanted the ride to cater for the whole family, which in hindsight makes total sense if you’re looking to compete with Disney. To cater for the whole family the ride car will seat 12 people instead of the usual 4.

Also to cater for the family the minimum height requirement is 42 inches, to give you an idea the minimum height requirement for Dragon Challenge at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogsmeade is 54 inches!

Universal have confirmed that the attraction will be more visual than physical with riders feeling truly emerge in the wizarding world, the story for the Escape from Gringotts ride is set in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows;

The guests will find themselves transported smack in the middle of the action when Ron, Harry and Hermione break into the bank,

On top of the above , Coup also confirm that riders will encounter Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort.

I’m looking forward to sampling this ride, be careful not to call it a coaster though, Universal are calling is a new, multi-dimensional 3D thrill ride!

Smiles included…

Jamie
