Hey Thrill Seekers,
Yesterday saw the debate regarding the proposed build of the SkyPlex complex on International Drive, I’ll talk more about this on a separate post but during the debate some interesting information came to the forefront regarding Universal’s pursuit of additional land.
The land in question (shown above) is a series of properties on the Sand Lake Road and is approximately 474 acres. Purchased in November by Colony Capital based out of California rumours of Universal’s pursuit of this land has already been well documented.
Confirmation of Universal’s interest in the land was confirmed yesterday by Commissioners Ted Edwards and Pete Clarke who stated that they were contacted by representatives of Universal who said the company has an option to buy the properties.
The introduction of a 3rd gate has always been something heavily rumoured and to continue their pursuit for the number 1 spot in Orlando, currently held by Disney, they’ll need a 3rd gate. I asked a senior executive at Universal Orlando this year about the possibility of an additional gate, the question was expertly dodged with the reply “Its something we’d certainly be interested in looking into”….
Well with the possibility of all this new land, what could the 3rd gate look like? Nintendo land perhaps?
Smiles included…
Jamie
