Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights Announces Face Off Scare Zone

Hey Thrill Seekers,

One of the most exciting parts of Halloween Horror Nights apart from the actual night itself are the reveals! Last year the social team that are looking after HHN24 teased us with a series of clues and midnight releases about what visitors could expect, this year we’re expecting something similar.

Last night Universal announced hit Syfy channel program Face Off will feature at both Hollywood and Universal Orlando locations.

HHN24-Key-Art-Face-Off-900x563Face Off is a competition/elimination series exploring the world of special-effects make-up artists and the unlimited imagination that allows them to create amazing works of living art. Each week the artists are tasked with using their considerable talent to create original movie-worthy characters such as aliens, human-animal hybrids, horror villains, cyborgs and others.

Universal have confirmed that Face Off will feature in five immersive areas within the scare zone, from eerie scarecrows that go to great lengths to protect a spine-chilling farmland to ghoulish brutes that haunt dilapidated castle ruins.

Halloween Horror Nights kicks off on September 19th and tickets for this unique event can be pre-purchased from Orlando Attraction Tickets.

So at the moment we know for sure that HHN24 will feature,

  • Face Off
  • The Walking Dead
  • From Dusk Til Dawn

Of course, we’ll keep you up to date with all the information as its released.

From Dusk Til Dawn To Be A Featured House At Halloween Horror Nights?

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Was it a mistake or a sneaky teaser? Only Universal will really know, but last week someone “accidently” uploaded a video to their YouTube channel which is said to have confirmed the TV version of the film From Dusk Til Dawn (available in the UK via NetFlix) will be one of the houses featured at this years Halloween Horror Nights.

The Vampire film directed by Robert Rodriguez is set to feature at both Florida and California  Halloween Horror Nights events and is rumoured to include the Snake wielding dancer.

From Dusk Til Dawn will join The Walking Dead as confirmed houses at Orlando, we expect another 6 which will be made up of original IP’s and iconic movies.

UPDATE:

Universal have now confirmed that From Dusk Til Dawn will indeed be a house at this years Halloween Horror Nights. Using their twitter account Universal confirmed that the house will be a soundstage maze featuring scenes from and inspired by the TV series.

They added; The environments are incredibly unique – from the bar interiors to the temple-like corridors it is very faithful to the From Dusk Til Dawn brand.

Check out the video here.

Halloween Horror Nights is open on the following dates; September 19, 25, 26 and 28. October 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29 or 30.

Universal currently offer 2 types of ticket, the Halloween Horror Nights 2 Park Universal Bonus Ticket and the Frequent Fear Pass both available to purchase from Orlando Attraction Tickets.

Hey Thrill Seekers,

This year will be Universal Orlando’s 24th Halloween Horror Nights! The scare spectacular is generally regarded as the daddy of all Halloween nights.

We often get asked if Halloween Horror Nights is really that scary? In a word “yes”… Universal pride themselves on being the biggest and the best, this isn’t Disney people.

To get a good idea you should read Karl Hendrie’s review of last years event or alternatively you can watch this video which gives you a glimpse at what you can expect.

Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event, which doesn’t come with your normal theme park tickets. Universal offers two types of ticket for entry, they are;

The Universal 2 park bonus Halloween Horror Nights Ticket and the Halloween Horror Nights Frequent Fear Pass.

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood To Let YOU Pick A Scare Zone

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN24) is regularly voted “Best Halloween Event” at numerous industry award nights, the painstaking care the team put into making the night a huge success is there for everyone to see but its a team that probably don’t get a lot of props that has recently started helping take the event to new heights.

HHN24 social team do a fantastic job in drip feeding us information in a way that keeps us engaged and thirsty for more. Last year they introduced a midnight reveal of each house which proved very popular and stopped me from getting a full nights sleep. This year though they may have outdone themselves…

What I noticed last year while reporting on each new house was the amount of opinions each reveal drew, from “yes this is going to be amazing” to “Why haven’t you done a (insert horror movie) house!”.  People are really passionate about Halloween Horror Nights and aren’t afraid to let Universal know!

Announced yesterday at Monsterpalooza Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood is  going to let YOU pick one of their scare zones. Full details haven’t be revealed yet but we can expect more shortly!

hhn24announceWe’re hoping Halloween Horror Nights Orlando follows suit and opens up this to Florida lovers too.

From the buzz online it looks like an American Horror Story house is favourite. We’ll keep you all updated.

3 Possible Houses For Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 24

Hey Thrill Seekers,

I love Halloween Horror Nights! Universal’s premier scare-a-thon is packed full of interesting and creative images, ideas and stories. We first starting working closely with Universal for HHN last year, we were very privileged to be at a press conference for the revealing of the American Werewolf in London house attended by none other than the creator himself John Landon and we also had the opportunity to visit Universal and sample Halloween Horror Nights first hand.

Over the upcoming months Universal will slowly reveal how each of the 8 iconic houses will be themed, last year they did this at midnight (USA time) and offered such delights as a Cabin in the Woods and an Evil Dead House.

Today I thought I’d take a punt at 3 houses that might make the 2014 cut. These aren’t confirmed and are simply me taking a guess.

Chucky

The Chucky franchise spawns  generations and in 2013 Universal Pictures release the Curse of Chucky a straight to DVD movie in which Chucky returns to wreak havoc. Its definitely not Oscar material but the legacy of Chucky has caused many a scream in the past.

Imagine walking through a house never knowing when Chucky is going to jump out at you…

Curse-of-Chucky-600

Mama

Another Universal Pictures 2013 release, this story has the same kind of feel to one of last years houses La Llorona and could be a great fit. The film deals with the story of two young girls abandoned in a forest cabin, fostered by an unknown entity that they fondly call “Mama”, which eventually follows them to their new suburban home after their uncle retrieves them…

Creepy and scary everything a good Halloween Horror Nights House should be. 🙂

The Purge

Yep I know Universal California had a Purge scare zone in 2013 but the breakout film has a sequel for release in 2014 so perhaps a dedicated house could be on the way to Orlando.

The Purge tells the story set in the future of a wealthy family held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the Purge, a 12-hour period in which any and all crime is legalized.

the-purge-2-release-date-leadSo there we have it my 3 guesses for 8 of the houses we can expect at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. I’ll keep you posted when we get exact details including pricing.
