Why I Love Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Hey Thrill Seekers,

What’s on at Magic Kingdom?

There’s so many shows, parades and attractions to be seen at each and every park all offering something different it can be hard to decide which is best. That’s where I can help, I have to say that all my favourites appear at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Which todays posts I’m going to tell you all about the attractions that I have been lucky enough to see and why I loved them so much.

The show I managed to see on one of my first visits to Magic Kingdom was ‘Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party!’ (although when I watched it, it was called the ‘Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party!’). We hadn’t long been in the park, it was still quite early (especially for us!) and we were stood at the front of the Cinderella Castle trying to decide where to go first. Before we knew it there was loud music and dancing characters all around us! If that wasn’t enough to wake us all up, I don’t know what was!

As I was new to Disney I didn’t really know what was going on, the streets were bare and then suddenly the characters were dancing all around us, some even had their own floats to take them around the park! Luckily for me, it wasn’t too busy that day so I got to see so much of it! Being right in front of the Cinderella Castle, the parade didn’t just whizz straight past me.

I was able to see all of the characters when they came together at the end! Yes, I did have a little boogie with them, sometimes you’ve just got to. Parades like this put a smile on everyone’s face! Although I’m not too sure why you wouldn’t be smiling if you’re at Disney in Orlando!

‘Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party!’ is on 3 times a day; once in the morning around 10.00am, then again at lunch time at 12.00pm and then they do it all over again in the evening at 5.00pm! Now that’s a lot of smiles!

When I saw the Main Street Electrical Parade, I had no idea what it was, I’d  never heard of it!

I was hanging around in the park waiting for the fireworks to start when all of a sudden crowds of people appeared and Disney cast members started putting up barriers quickly to keep everybody on the paths. There was definitely a parade about to happen!

The parade had so many different floats covered in little lights, lighting the whole place up! As they went round the park I found myself totally mesmerised by all of the lights! There were a lot of street performers dancing  in between the floats, it was nonstop, there wasn’t a single dull moment.

Each float is themed around different Disney films with selected scenes taking place on some of them as they make their way around the park. The Main Street Electrical Parade starts at 9.00pm and 11.00pm so you hadn’t need to worry if you miss anything or even if you just loved it so much the first time that you want to see it again! When I watched the parade, I was stood by the Liberty Tree Tavern Café in Liberty Square as I was making my way over to the castle to watch the fireworks! We didn’t think we would be able to see much at first but then when we saw how slow the floats move, you would be silly to miss one. We had an amazing view! Now all we had to worry about was getting closer to the castle to see the fireworks!

Before the fireworks started, something else was going on…what was it? I was just expecting fireworks but there was another show called ‘Celebrate the Magic!’ on first. This was definitely my favourite and to be finished off with the fireworks afterwards was just incredible! Tinkerbell introduces the show by flying over the Cinderella Castle and then different clips of Disney movies are projected onto it lighting up the whole castle with the music blasting out of the speakers around the park. I’m not going to give anything away, but you must look out for the ending! (HINT: look up high!) The best spot to stand for watching this show has got be right behind the statue of Walt Disney. If you’re standing here, you won’t miss a thing! Celebrate the Magic starts at 9.45pm and 10.35pm every night at Magic Kingdom. It’s definitely not something you want to miss!

Celebrate the Magic

The grand finale of the night was ‘Wishes Night-time Spectacular’! This was the firework show that I had been waiting for all night and the reason I got to see the Main Street Electrical Parade and Celebrate the Magic! You can pretty much stand anywhere in the park to see the Wishes Night-time Spectacular show although I would recommend looking at the front of the Cinderella Castle. You don’t even need to be close up to get a good view, standing right near the entrance of the park at the end of Main Street will still give you a great opportunity to see the best bits of the show!

While you’re watching the fireworks, Jiminy Cricket is narrating a story about wishes coming true, through the speakers around the park. This is another attraction that should definitely not be missed. You won’t want to take your eyes off it for a single second! Wishes Night-time Spectacular is on at 10.00pm every night at Magic Kingdom.
