What is Discovery Cove?
Discovery Cove can best be described as a tropical paradise, the total opposite to the crazy mayhem of roller coaster filled theme parks and a must for dolphin lovers everywhere.
Recently I was in Orlando to review the opening of SeaWorld’s Antarctica Empire of the Penguins expansion and had the pleasure of spending one glorious day at Discovery Cove. The popular misconception about the boutique park is that its all about swimming with the dolphins but that does the park a great disservice.
My favourite part of my trip to the SeaWorld Parks (Discovery Cove, SeaWorld, Aquatica & Busch Gardens), was my day at Discovery Cove and I didn’t go anywhere near a dolphin.
Your Discovery Cove tickets include free food and beverages throughout the day and I must admit I took full advantage of the this. I took it upon myself to test Discovery Coves wonderfully named “relaxation pool” by supping a few margaritas in it…. I can confirm I was very relaxed… 🙂
I also took a meander around Discovery Cove’s “lazy river”, I must admit to not being the strongest of swimmers so I believe the term “lazy river” is slightly generous. I was shattered by the time I’d got round… bit more “relaxation pool” was required 😉
After taking a walk around Discovery Coves aviary I headed over to the otters to watch them play and help feed them, a few of my more adventurous colleagues went to snorkel with tropical fish and rays at the grand reef, I looked after the “relaxation reef” ….
The day went incredibly fast, as it tends to do when you’re having fun and I really didn’t want to leave. I didn’t even see the dolphins 🙂
regards,
Jamie
