Abby’s Pre-Orlando Adventure

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Its nearly time…….

If you watch our bi-weekly Facebook Lives you’re bound to know that i’m due to go on a ‘Super Fam’ trip and in particular, how excited I am about it! Well it’s time and i’m finally leaving tomorrowĀ to embark on what is sure to be the best trip EVER.

If you follow our Facebook or Instagram accounts you’ll be seeing loads of videos and photos from yours truly over the next week including all things Disney, Universal and SeaWorld. Before I start packing (yes I know I’ve left it very last minute) I thought I would give you guys a run-down of what my trip is going to involve.

Soooo.. I arrive in Orlando at 5pm -ish on Sunday and by 9.30pm i’ll be at Universals Halloween Horror Nights!! Nothing like throwing us in at the deep end aye?! I’m absolutely terrified but also mega, mega excited for this (I do feel sorry for the people who are going to have to keep picking me up off the floor in the houses though) The house i’m most excited for is SAW: The Games of Jigsaw, SAW hasn’t featured at HHN for 8 years now and i’m pretty eager to see what’s going to be involved this time around.

For the first few days i’m going to be staying at Universals Cabana Bay Beach Resort which I’ve heard is very nice indeed. šŸ˜› On my first full day i’ll be visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley, Hogsmede Village and Universal Studios. I’m absolutely buzzing to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – I’ve heard so many amazing things about it and I just can’t wait to see it all for myself and i’m especially excited forĀ Ā Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringottsā„¢.

On to the next day.. On this day I will be visiting Volcano Bay in the morning and Universals Islands of Adventure in the afternoon, woooo!!! I can’t wait to ride Krakatauā„¢ Aqua CoasterĀ and teeny bit scared to doĀ Koā€™okiri Body Plungeā„¢Ā I feel like this is going to be a fantastic morning and I can’t wait to get loads of snaps of the Volcano! For Islands of Adventure I’ve been warned not to wear white tops or any denim and this is because i’m bound to get ABSOLUTELY SOAKED on the water rides.. Hopefully it’s a warm day (oh I forgot to mention, the weather forecast for next week is BEAUTIFUL.) Oh i’m also very eager to ride The Incredible Hulk Coaster We have a surprise evening with Universal on this day and i’m super excited to see what this is going to be, of course, i’ll keep you updated!

Day 4 is the day i’m most excited about… anyone who knows me will understand why. Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to swim with a dolphin and now i’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it YAY!!! If you haven’t guessed already, i’ll be visiting Discovery Cove in the morning. I’m not going to lie there will probably be some tears buy hey, who cares it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity! After Discovery Cove i’ll be travelling over to Busch Gardens where I cannot wait to ride all the big coasters and ALL of the pressure is on me to ride Falcons Fury.. i’ve got this!

On day 5 i’ll be visiting SeaWorld in the Morning , Aquatica in the afternoon and back to SeaWorld for the evening! šŸ˜‰ Very excited to ride Manta and Mako at SeaWorld as everyone in the offices always raves about how good they are. Especially excited to be lucky enough to ride them in the dark also! Psyching myself up for Ihu’s breakaway falls at Aquatica!

I’ll be staying over night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, ready for day 6.. On day 6 i’ll be visiting EPCOT in the morning and Animal Kingdom in the afternoon. Can’t wait to visit all of the different countries at EPCOT and i’m so buzzing for Pandora – The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom, the reviews i’ve read about Avatar –Ā Flight of Passage have all been great so I cannot wait to experience it for myself too.

On the 7th Day i’ll be off to Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom, I am really looking forward to seeing Cinderella’s Castle, meeting all of the characters and getting to experience the iconic rides and attractions such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. I also hope I get to watch Happily Ever After, could possibly shed a tear or two here as well!

On my last day I get to go SHOPPING at the Orlando International Premium Outlets and the Florida Mall, I’ve got all my pennies saved up for this I’m just hoping i’ll have enough room in my suitcase!! After that it’s home time šŸ™ šŸ™

Only 1 more sleepĀ to go and i’ll finally be off!! If you would like to follow my action packed week make sure you keep checking our Facebook and Instagram as i’ll be trying to post as much and as often as possible.

See you all soon!!

Do You Really Mean All The Parks?

Hey Thrill Seekers,

A lot of our customers ask for a ticket that includes ‘all of the parks’ without realising how many parks there actually are. Ticket purchasing can become quite complicated when you aren’t aware of all the parks and attractions, especially if you’re a first timer. We have ‘The Big Three’, Disney, Universal and SeaWorld but there is so much more!

Let’s take a look at the big threeĀ first.

Walt Disney World actually consists of 6 parks in total, 4 theme parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and 2 water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. All of our Disney tickets include all 6 of these parks, we do not offer single day or single park tickets.

Disney’sĀ Magic Kingdom is the park toĀ explore lands of endless enchantment, where your fantasy becomes a reality.Ā

Disney’s Epcot allows you toĀ travel around the globe, under the sea, into outer space…and beyond!

Disney’s Animal KingdomĀ will amaze you,Ā behold the magic of nature with rare animals and world-class entertainment.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios puts you smack bang in the middle of the action, take center stage in the world of movies, television, music and theater.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is aĀ storm ravaged tropical bay while Disney’s Blizzard Beach is aĀ melting ski resort.

Disney

Moving onto Universal now with their 2 theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. These 2 parks are joint together using The Wizarding World of Harry PotterĀ and the Hogwarts Express.Ā You must have a hopper ticket to ride the Hogwarts Express, which is of course, what we offer! šŸ™‚

Tip: Ride the Hogwarts Express both ways to encounter two completely different experiences. šŸ˜‰

Universal Studios is where you canĀ jump into the action of your favourite movies and TV shows’.Ā At the back of the park you will find yourself inĀ Diagon Alley.

Universal’s Islands of Adventure is where you can live the adventure. Towards the back of this park you will be inĀ Hogsmeade.

Universal’s Volcano Bay is the newest park which is due to openĀ on the 1st June 2017.Ā Water is life. Life is joy.Ā

universal

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment have a total of 4 parks including SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Discovery Cove.

SeaWorld Orlando has a mixture of thrill rides, family rides and animal interactions. SeaWorldĀ rescue a lot of animals from the wild to treat them and then release them back into the wild.

Aquatica is SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s water park which is themed to the Southern Pacific and features Australian and New Zealand mascots that you can spot relating to each attraction.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is about an hour out of Orlando but so worth the journey! TheĀ 19th century African themed park is also, like SeaWorld, a mixture of the thrill and family rides as well as the animal encounters. All of the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is suitable for all the family.

Tip: We offer these parks at an amazing 3 parks for the price of 2 offer which entails free parking!

Discovery Cove is an amusement park where guests can completely relax with an all inclusive day and have the choice to ‘talk, touch, play and swim with bottlenose dolphins’.

There are 2 Discovery Cove packages available, 1 including 14 days into SeaWorld and Aquatica and our Ultimate package including 14 days into SeaWorld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens.

Discovery Cove’s Top Attraction’s 2016

Hey Thrill Seekers,

The top attraction at Discovery Cove for 2016 was a no brainer. Of course it was Dolphin Lagoon. This may have something to do with the once in a life time opportunity to swim with dolphins!

If you opt for the swim package at Discovery Cove you get the incredible experience of meeting, interacting and swimming with a beautiful bottlenose dolphin in Dolphin Lagoon. This will definitely be the highlight of your day and maybe even your whole holiday!

discovery cove

From the feedback we have received by those of you who have visited Discovery Cove I can see why it has come out on top and put perfectly by one of our customers who recently visited:

” The most wonderful day. Can”t put into words how enjoyable the whole day was. Swimming with the dolphins is just an incredible experience.”

Second Place: Dolphin Swim ExperienceĀ – Takes place within Dolphin Lagoon – a unforgettable experience!

Third Place: Grand Reef – Snorkel with thousands of fish, rays and sharks in this 2.5 acre tropical world.

Discovery-Cove-ray

Fourth Place: Wind Away RiverĀ – This is one of the most relaxing things to do when in Orlando – my tip is to grab one of the floats before embarking on your adventure for full relaxation!

Fifth Place: Explorers Aviary – A fantastic opportunity to feed beautiful birds right from the palm of your hands.

I am sooo jealous of anyone who had the chance to visit and swim with dolphins this year but in my opinion you voted a very respectable winner!

A day at Discovery Cove

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Ever wondered what it’s actually like at Discovery Cove? Well wonder no more! A lot of people assume it’s just a park that you can visit if you want to swim with the dolphins. Wrong! There is so much more at Discovery Cove that will amaze you from start to finish.

The park only allow 1300 guests per day so you don’t get the overcrowding, meaning less stress and a great place to relax.

Swimming with the dolphinsĀ is completely optional as we offer non swim packages as well as swim packages. If you select the non swim package you will be able to do everything in the park other than go in the dolphin lagoon. If you select the swim package, you will be allocated a time slot to go down and be introduced to your trainer. They will then walk you down to the dolphin lagoon so you can meet your dolphin, kiss them, hug them and rub them before experiencing your once in a lifetime, one-on-one swim.

DC

Why not head over to theĀ grand reef and snorkel with some of the most beautiful fish and if you’re brave enough, come face to face with a shark underwater (behind glass of course). If you like exploring you can take a peek at the reef’s islands and hidden grotto’s.

Discovery Cove have theirĀ freshwater oasis where you can get up close and personal with otters and marmosets while wading, wandering and floating around the water-filled trails. You will be able to see some amazing discoveries the more you search.

Visit theĀ free-flight aviary and feed some of the beautiful, tropical birds while they soar above and around you in their natural habitat.

luke

Float around theĀ wind-away river past the sandy beaches, through the rain forest, beneath the waterfalls and through the underwater cave. Behind the waterfalls you will also find yourself in part of the aviary with the birds flying all around you.

Don’t forget, Discovery Cove is all inclusive so you can take advantage of the unlimited food and drink (alcoholic too, believe it or not) at the Laguna Grill. Along with you day at Discovery Cove you will also receive your complimentary hire of a mask, snorkel, wetsuit/vest, towels, lockers, beach umbrellas, sun loungers and hammocks.

Now what reason could you possibly have that would make you not want to visit Discovery Cove? I’m pretty sure there’s no reason at all, so get yourself down there šŸ˜‰

You Can Now Book Discovery Cove For 2017

Hey Thrill Seekers,

It really is the season to be jolly… Last week we were able to announce that we’ve been able to place Universal 2 Park Tickets on sale for 2017! Today we’re able to confirm that Discovery Cove is also now on sale for 2017!

This is easily the earliest time I have ever known Discovery Cove to be placed on sale. The tropical paradise is one of Florida’s must visit attractions. It only allows 1300 people in per day and has been responsible for more people ticking off Swim with the Dolphins from their bucket lists than elves in Santa’s workshop.

The Day I Swam With A Dolphin At Discovery Cove

Good Morning Thrill Seekers,

The 24th September 2015 was the best day of my life when I visited Discovery Cove. I have always dreamt about swimming with dolphins since I was a little girl and I knew this could well have been the last chance I would ever have to do it.

12189471_10156442095580643_3825184755140063089_o

We arrived at the park as early as possible so that we got a good timeslot. They took our photo and gave us our new ticket with our face on which had the name of our cabana and the time of our swim. We were told to be at the Seahorse cabana 5 minutes before our allocated swim time which was 11:05am. We were very happy with this time slot as it gave us chance to settle in and do our swim before lunch.

We headed over to get our wetsuits on and get a locker before going to find a sun lounger to soak up yet more sun. We went for a walk around the park to see what was about and came across the aviary. Looking at all of the beautiful birds flying on top of your head and even feeding them when they land on your arm is truly incredible. I’m not a massive fan of birds and they do scare me quite a lot but I had to do it.

11 o clock came around so quickly that I almost wasn’t ready. I’d started to get quite scared of doing it and nearly talked myself out of it as I’m not a strong swimmer. We had our meeting in the cabana and were put into small groups of 9 which we would share our experience with. To our surprise there was 2 other people in our group that live in our home town! What a small World!

Our dolphin trainers, Lauren and Brad introduced us to Catolina the dolphin and began to explain some facts about dolphins and show us some tricks that they can do with their trainers. We were able to feed fish to her and give her a stroke a few times before going out to begin the swim.

You have the choice between a deep end swim or a shallow end swim which I had to choose the shallow end as I don’t swim too well but it was all the same. I stood aside and watched the people that chose the deep water first and was getting more and more scared by the minute and then before I knew it, it was my turn.

discovery cove trip

I walked over to Catolina and Brad, the trainer explained to place my hands on the top fin and the side fin with my arm over the top. Before I even had chance to think about it, we were off and I felt like I was flying across the top of the water. It was amazing!

After our swim we decided to dry off and get some lunch. Discovery Cove is all inclusive so you can have as much food and drink as you like all day.

I could not wait to get my snorkel on and check out some of the sting rays and fishes in the Grand Reef. I did panic a little due to my swimming abilities so didn’t make it over the sharks although the rest of the party did and said it wasĀ surreal. I never realised how big some of the rays are and you have to be careful not to step on them asĀ they don’t move out of your way!

Soaking up some more of the sun back at Serenity Bay was becoming hard work as it was extremely hot on this day so we went off to the Wind-Away Lazy River and floated around it for a while before deciding to grab our last bit of sunshine again before the end of the day.

Discovery Cove was the highlight of my holiday and after visiting I felt so relaxed. It may not produce the adrenaline rush of a Rip Ride Rockit or The Hulk but its easily the best park in Orlando.

Discovery Cove only lets in 1300 people per day so you have to pre-book to avoid disappointment, you can find out more by checking out our dedicated Discovery Cove pages.

Kelly Reviews Discovery Cove

Hi Thrill Seekers,

It was onto Day 3. The day I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl. We were off to Discovery Cove where oneĀ could swim with a Dolphin, snorkel with tropical fish, come face to face with sharks or just relax on a white sandy beach. I was soooo excited I could have burst.

Like the other parks I have already blogged about, Discovery Cove was just a few minutes from our hotel and extremely easy to get to. This was handy as we wanted to get their early to book our slot for the Dolphin swim.

Arriving at the park, a friendly member of staff gave us a card attached to a lanyard with our names and date of visitĀ on them for us to pop round our necks whilst in the park, they usually also take a photo to put on your card but as we had a group of 20 this may have taken some time. For guests who are over the age of 21 and want to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks whilst at the park staff will also check your ID so that your card will also state that you are above the legal drinking age. This saves you having to carry your ID around the park with you.

discovery cove lanyard

Our first stop was breakfast. All food and drink areĀ included throughout the day. In the main restaurant breakfast is servedĀ buffet style soĀ you can just help yourself as many times as you like. There are also snack huts scattered around the park so you can grab something on the go if you get hungry.

Our Dolphin swim was at 10:30am so it was straight to get our wetsuits. They have different styles to choose from a full wetsuit, half wetsuit or a life jacket. I personally like a challenge so it was the full wetsuit for me, and yes it was definitely a challenge to get into.

We still had a bit of time before our Dolphin swims so we grabbed a snorkel, you will find these in blue and yellow drawstring bags at the same placeĀ you get your wetsuitĀ from. The blue sets are adult sizes and the yellow children’s – as I’m petite and got a small head I went for a yellow set.

We headed to the Grand Reef which features multiple levels of exploration suitable for all ages, from paddling tranquil, shallow waters to deep diving adventures into a tropical sunken world bursting with sea life, including over 10,000 animals, representing 125 different species of fish, rays and sharks. My experience of the Grand Reef was pretty brief as I was petrified of the stingrays they were very large so there was no chance of missing them. I did have have a little paddle trying my hardest to dodge them, at one point I thought one was coming at me so I jumped on the back of one of people in our group in order to get my feet off the floor. I’m a little embarrassed of how scared I was of them as they are no threat to anyone, so dont be like meā€¦.ā€a scaredy catā€ there is really nothing to be worried about.

discovery cove trip

So 10.30 arrived it was finally time to do our Dolphin swim. We met with one of the trainers first who Ā showed us a short video full of information on Dolphins. Our lanyards had a number and letter on them which told us what group we would be in for the swim – our group was quite small with only 6 of us which was nice.

It was off to the waters to meet our Dolphin we had a young female Dolphin called Catalina she was only 7. Luckily for us she was in a good mood and ready to entertain. The trainer got her to do a few tricks before getting her to swim past us so we could reach out and touch her. To me she felt like a hard boiled egg.

We had the chance to get a few pictures with her, in groups and also on our own planting kisses on her nose. The photographer was fantastic and got the most beautiful photos of our experience. We were able to buy these at great prices and bring them home to show off to friends and family.

For the one to one swim with Catalina we was given the option to do it in shallow or deep water. Everyone in our group were ok swimmers so we all choose to do it in deep water.

For anyone doing the swim you encounter the same experience doing it in shallow water as you would deep water so if you are not a great swimmer and would rather do it in shallow water then donā€™t think you will be missing out in anyway as you wonā€™t be. I am not a great swimmer myself but was still able to do it in the deep water, you only have to tread water for a minute (with another trainer next to you) before the Dolphin is with you.

So for the swim itself, I swam out to the deep water where one of the trainers was waiting -she gave a signal to the other trainer and I could see Catalina making her way to me, I was a little nervous as I’ve not had such a large animal swimming towards me before but it was fine as soon as she got to me she was already in position. The trainer told me to place one hand on her pectoral fin and the other on her dorsal fin and that was it she was off taking me back to shore. What an experience, I have never done anything so amazing in all my life and I will treasure that moment forever. I would highly recommend anyone going to Orlando to go to Discovery Cove and swim with a Dolphin, I cannot put into words how amazing it truly is.

discovery cove

After our swim it was just about lunch time so we went to the main eating area and enjoyed some yummy buffet food. There was so much left to do of the park and everyone wanted to do different things so we all split up. A few of us went onto Freshwater Oasis, Discovery Coves newest attraction. You can relax and explore in the very warm waters slowly swimming past Otters and Marmosets, I’ve heard the Marmosets are usually very playful but when we swam past they were pretty quiet, but they are extremely cute – so make sure you go grab a peek at them.

It was coming to the end of our day so it was a quick visit to the Explorerā€™s Aviary, where you can if you wish take a cup of bird food around with you given to you by a member of staff. Please be aware if you are carrying food around the birds will land on you – this is not something I was very keen on so I walked around with someone else who decided to take food and I must say it was very entertaining to watch when one of the birds landed on him and took a liking to his gold chain around his neck. I would say if it is something you would like to do then go earlier on in the day as I think the birds were stuffed when we arrived there.

So that wraps up my day in Discovery Cove and what a magical one it was.
