Disney Hollywood Studios To Get A New Name?

Hey Thrill Seekers,

A couple of years ago now we reported that Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO had told share holders that a name change for Disney’s Hollywood Studios was on the way.

Since then all has been pretty quiet…. until last weekend when Disney sent out a survey to select people. Now the survey hand a few interesting bits in it including suggested names changes for Disney’s Hollywood Studios;

When Hollywood Studios opened in 1989 Michael Eisner stated;

The World you have entered was created by The Walt Disney Company and is dedicated to Hollywood not a place on a map, but a state of mind that exists wherever people dream and wonder and imagine, a place where illusion and reality are fused by technological magic. We welcome you to a Hollywood that never was and always will be.

Many people believe that this ethos has gone slightly array and that a new name is needed to represent how the park has evolved…

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Top Attractions 2016

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Rockin’ in at the number one attraction for Disney’s Hollywood Studios is of course the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

This coaster takes you on a musical adventure to an Aerosmith concert through LA in a super stretch limo. The whole adventure starts by being invited by Aerosmith at G-Force records to come along for a ride to their concert which they are very late for.

The limo will reach speeds of up to 6omph so hold on tight!!

“Careen up and down into the inky, nighttime city darkness. Rocket through the famous Hollywood sign and speed past illuminated landmarks. Maneuver through city traffic and swoop in and around 3 thrilling inversions—2 rollover loops and one corkscrew—as the wind races across your face.”

Will you make it to the concert in time? Either way you’ll be rocking out to Aerosmith tunes all the way!

Second Place: The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror – Enter the Twilight Zone and fly up and down an extremely haunted elevator. Make sure to hold on tight if you want to make it back out to the real world!

Third Place: Star Tours – You’ll blast off into the Star Wars galaxy in a Starspeeder 1000. Encounter the likes of Darth Vader and Boba Fett as you voyage to alien worlds.

Fourth Place: Toy Story Mania – A fun and interactive ride. You will ride and shoot targets alongside your favourite Toy Story characters. Once you are in your carnival ride tram make sure to pick up your spring-action shooter and your 3D glasses. There’s also 5 games to play throughout the ride!

Fifth Place: Fantasmic! – This really is an incredible show. It brings together all your favourite Disney heroes, princesses and villains. Obviously starring the one and only Mickey Mouse.

Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith is such a exciting, fun and entertaining ride with loads to see along the way whilst keeping all the thrills of a great roller coaster. A worthy winner!

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show To Close

Hey Thrill Seekers,

The news that Disney will be building a new Star Wars themed land is amazing! Everybody I know is so excited to see one of the largest film franchises in the world bought to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

However this does mean that things will be closed to make way for this new area. One of those attraction making way is Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. This energetic stunt show originally debuted on the 5th May 2005 and has proved popular with Disney fanatics.

The 40 minute show was based around cars and included pyrotechnics, jet ski chases, and physical stunt work. The cars were followed by cameras, and filmed, both shot during the show and pre-recorded, and was shown to the audience on a billboard television screen; some shots are from the Disneyland Resort Paris version of the show. This is to make the show look like a real movie shoot.

Today Disney confirmed that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show will close on the 02 April 2016, up until this date the attractions will run daily as usual.

Although I’m sad to see this attraction close, sacrifices must be made for me to become a Jedi!!!

Star Wars Features We Could See Very Soon

Disney’s huge confirmation that they will be building a dedicated Star Wars Land was dampened slightly by the lack of information regarding an opening date. The only clue regarding any kind of timescale came from Imagineer Scott Trowbridge who stated the project would…

Unlike some theme parks, Universal for example, Disney like to let their plans be known even if the actual product won’t be available for years. However Disney did let us know that some Star Wars themed attractions will be opening sooner than later.

Star Wars Launch Bay: Is an interactive experience, which will be housed at the former Animation pavilion space at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Star Wars Launch Bay will include character meet and greets, exhibits themed to the new Star Wars films, and new stores. It will open later this year on both coasts.

Season of the Force: A new limited-time event that will run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, beginning in 2016, it will include a Star Wars-themed fireworks show, extended meet and greets, street attractions plus special food and merchandise.

On top of this, Disney will also be updating its Star Tours attraction with new destinations and characters from the upcoming Star Wars films. Time frame for this would coincide with the new film, so towards the end of this year.

Think it’s a good excuse to get my Star Wars box set out and start some research!

Disney Confirm Toy Story Land For Hollywood Studios

Hot on the news that Disney Hollywood Studios would be receiving a new Star Wars Land Disney also confirmed another addition.

Enter Woody and friends, with the all-new 11-acre Toy Story Land. Visitors will become merged into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard, including two new Disney Parks attractions and one expanded favourite.

Family-friendly roller coaster – This coaster will zip and zoom, plunge and coast as it takes guests on a thrilling, toy-filled adventure throughout the new land on the back of Slinky Dog.
Alien saucers attraction – The famous little green aliens from the movie will take guests around for a spin in their very own flying saucers.
Toy Story Mania! – Guests glide into the Toy Story Midway Games Play Set and take aim at 3D objects in a variety of fast-paced games, with an expansion that adds an additional track to this popular attraction.

The Hollywood Studios remake is set to be amazing!

Disney Confirm Star Wars Land For Orlando

We’ve been suggesting for months now that Disney will be building a Star Wars Land. Today at the D23 expo in California Disney confirmed that they will indeed be building every kids dream.

Disney CEO Bob Iger addressed the 7000 plus audience and revealed ambitious plans for both Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The focus behind the plans is to bring Star Wars to life and represents Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions ever, at 14-acres! Visitors will find themselves transported to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.

Iger stated;

I’m thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars, we are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The Star Wars land at Disneys Hollywood Studios will have two signature attractions, including the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.

As expected, on Sunday Disney confirmed that their walk up gate prices would increase sending most tickets over the magical $100 level. A day ticket to Disney’s Magic Kingdom will now set visitors back $111.83 at today’s exchange rate (1.53) thats £73.09.

Disney spokesman Bryan Malenius told the Orlando Sentinel;

A day at a Disney park is unlike any other in the world, and there is strong demand for our attractions and entertainment, We continually add new experiences, and many of our guests select multi-day tickets or annual passes which provide great value and additional savings.

One day tickets for visitors to Disney’s Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will cost $103.31 , at the same exchange used above this would mean if you wished to visit the 4 Disney Parks during your holiday (no park hopping) it would set you back £275.66…

Magic Kingdom – $111.83 (10+ years and above)

Disney’s Sorcerer’s Hat To Be Dismantled Today

Hey Thrill Seekers,

Today is D-Day for one of Disney’s most iconic landmarks, the Sorcerer’s Hat located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to be dismantled to make way for new experiences Disney officials stated.

The Sorcerer’s Hat has been a mainstay at Hollywood Studios since 2001, however Disney have felt that the 122 foot nod to Fantasia is obviously dated. Deconstruction of the Hat is expected to take up to 3 days.

I asked our facebook community of 8420 (at the time of this post) about how they felt regarding the removal of this selfie haven here’s what they said;

I for one will be gutted to see the big hat removed for me it was one of the symbols I always associated with Disney however if they replace it with a ton of Marvel or Star Wars material I’m sure I’ll get over it pretty quickly…
