What We Could Expect From Universal’s New Nintendo Deal

Hey Thrill Seekers,

If you’re a fan of video games or even if you’ve just played a few you’ll probably be aware of Nintendo’s large catalog of characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, Zelda and the Mario Bros are just a few and Universal’s recent deal to create attractions around these impressive IP’s could well be a bit of a masterstroke especially when you take into consideration Disney’s recent purchase of popular intellectual property like Marvel (Spider-Man etc) and LucasFilms (Star Wars etc).

The deal is also good for Nintendo who’s Wii-U product hasn’t set the world alight as was expected. The use of their characters at the home of Harry Potter will definitely help raise their profile.

Although Universal and Nintendo have been quiet on what exactly we can expect it definitely hasn’t stopped us having a chat about what we’d like to see.

Sonic the Hedgehog Coaster

Goes without saying this would need to be the fastest roller coaster in the World! If you’re going to use Sonic you’ve got to be travelling at near sonic speeds. I’m thinking something similar to Stealth at Thorpe Park but faster…

Mario Kart Racing

My kids love this computer game, its like formula one but with all your favourite Nintendo Characters. I picture it similar to Test Track at Disney’s Epcot, you make your vehicle and select your character and then proceed to race it against other visitors in a The Simpsons Ride style 34 enviroment. Imagine how competitive it would be?

Legend of Zelda

One of Nintendo’s most popular and well known games, The Legend of Zelda centre’s around a boy called Link who ends up getting involved in adventures. I see this as being almost like a walk through Halloween Horror Nights type attraction without the scares. Mixed with puzzles and perhaps a final Forbidden Journey style ride.

With so many characters the ideas are endless and I’m sure Universal and Nintendo have better ideas than me, but if they want to borrow any of them all I’ll require is a couple of free tickets. 🙂

We’ll keep you posted when Universal reveal more.

Smiles included…
