Hey Thrill Seekers,
Universal’s big release this year is set to be Skull Island: Reign of Kong, due for launch this summer the attraction has started employee testing which is usually the first step before soft launching…
The attraction already has visitors thirsting to experience it with guests queuing in the rain yesterday hoping for a soft launch chance!

However its something else that has got social media in a bit of frenzy! Always looking to separate itself from the competition Universal have decided to spice up the queue… by adding scare actors…
What we’re being told is that to add to the realism and atmosphere of Skull Island Universal will be employing professional scare actors to dress as natives and prowl the queue. Think Halloween Horror Nights but in a queue…
We’ve written a lot on here in the past regarding making queue’s part of the experience and Universal are definitely one of the best at doing this, just look at the effort they put into Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. So we applaud this effort to not only create an emotive ride but also include the queue….. however….
…however…. Social media has been rife with critics stating that the experience will be too much for younger children, Universal recommend this attraction for teens and older despite a low height restriction, they also pointed towards child swap systems as a potential issue sighting Universal’s policy of the children staying in the queue with the parents.
Although these fears are warranted, Universal are yet to release any details of how any of this will work or even if its going to be part of the experience. A lot of people are assuming that by using the term scare actors there only function will be to scare but what if Universal are just calling them actors and like the drivers of the Kong vehicles who all have different personalities and stories, our natives have the same licence.
This way if the actors see a party who they believe wont react positively to being scared they instead send out a curious native who wants to try on your hat or sunglasses?
Universal is always about the experience and I wouldn’t have thought they’d be looking to pop up intentional blocks to stop people enjoying their holiday…
